Silver Birch Hedging Plants are a wonderful choice for a stand-alone tree or as part of a native hedge mix. This beautiful tree produces early catkins followed by delicate light green leaves. The silver white bark of the tree trunks takes a few years to develop fully but when you get your trees take a look and you will see tiny white spots which are the developing bark.

Happy to grow in most soils and totally hardy. It will grow around 40cm per year - up to a height of around 18m. We recommend you trim back your Silver Birch in August.

Silver Birch makes a super addition to mixed hedgerows and is horse friendly meaning that we put it in our horse friendly mix. It makes a wonderful environment for small animals - and is very wildlife friendly.

Simply choose the height of the plants you want to plant now and the number of plants you need.

We recommend 5 plants per metre in a double zig-zag row for a thick hedge, but you can get away with 3-4 per metre in a staggered row if you don't mind waiting an extra year or two to form a thick hedge.

Keep them well watered - especially in the Spring and Summer in the first year of planting. If you are not sure how many plants you need or which varieties suit your garden please just contact or call us and we will be happy to offer friendly advice.
